Hazardous Materials

Hazardous waste is either toxic, reactive, or flammable. Placing it in the garbage is a danger to the environment, the garbage hauler and the landfill staff. By law, all hazardous products must have warning labels. Look for the words "caution," "warning," or "poison" on the item in question.

If you see hazardous waste in Chico's urban waterways, contact the fire department or call 911.
