Illegal Dumping

Illegal dumping is an issue throughout Butte County. If you see an illegal dump site, please use the form below to report it.

Chapter 49 of the Butte County code establishes that unlawful refuse dumping is a violation. It is the responsibility of the producer of refuse to dispose of it legally. Vehicles used to facilitate illegal dumping will be treated as a nuisance, seized, and forfeited by the District Attorney.

City of Chico code 9.22.010 prohibits the deposition or dumping of any kind of waste upon the streets, highways, waterways, or sewers. The City of Chico also offers a $50 reward for evidence of such violations.
